Yuba Bicycles recently introduced the Electric Mundo, a pedal-assist version of the cargo specialty brand’s best-selling longtail bike, equipped with Shimano’s STEPS e8000 mid-drive system with a 504Wh battery.
“The Electric Mundo is designed to carry large loads and multiple humans. We’ve built the frame out of chromoly steel, incorporating our Stay Steady Technology (SST) for a smooth, no-flex riding experience,” Yuba stated in a release. “Our proprietary double-sided Stand Together kickstand keeps the bike stable and in place while loading gear or passengers, and newly incorporated through-axles increase lateral rigidity.”
Offering pedal assist up to 20 mph, the Class 1 Electric Mundo can carry up to three children and has a total payload capacity of 550 pounds. Yuba calls it “the minivan of cargo bikes.”
The Electric Mundo is outfitted with a rear with side loaders, front and rear Herrmans LED lights for continuous visibility, four-piston front and two-piston rear Magura hydraulic brakes, Shimano Deore 10-speed derailleur, and 26x2.15-inch Schwalbe Big Ben tires on 36-spoke WTB SX-23 rims. The ebike retails for $4,400.
