Addmotor begins taking preorders today (December 14) on a new pedal-assist bike with a big claim of up to a triple-digit mileage range on a single battery charge. The Southern California-based ebike brand is also offering a $500 early-bird discount on the $2,099 full price if you secure your place in line during an as-yet-undisclosed period.
The Addmotor City Pro leisure/recreational ebike will be available in both diamond and step-through frame options, with a powerhouse of a 960Wh frame-mounted external battery (with Samsung cells) juicing up a 500W brushless rear hub motor peaking at 907 watts. In its lowest pedal-assist model, the system is capable of more than 125 miles of range between charges, Addmotor says.
The City Pro comes equipped with a rear rack, full fenders front and rear, a comfort saddle, and several safety features aimed at ensuring you’ll be both seen and heard on bike paths and in city traffic. Addmotor says its 40-lumen and multifunction taillight provides a combined 360 degrees of visibility, which is further enhanced by the inclusion of wheel reflectors as well as reflective sidewalls on the 26 x 2.3-inch Kenda tires. Addmotor also developed a custom electric horn producing a piercing 108 decibels of “Hey, lookee here!!!” that can be heard almost 500 feet away, according to the company.
Component spec includes a Shimano Altus seven-speed drivetrain, rust-resistant KMC chain, hydraulic disc brakes with 180-millimeter rotors, a 100-millimeter-travel suspension fork, and high-rise handlebars. Riders can dial in fit with the City Pro’s adjustable-height stem and quick-release seatpost. Addmotor recommends the step-through version for riders 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-8 and the diamond frame for 5-foot-7 to 6-foot-1. Recommended rider weight limit for both versions is 250 pounds.
